Re: Flight announcements - Post here
Thanks a lot for the flight!
Comments on the mission design appreciated...
From the mission designers point of view at least most of the mission was working as intended. Only it was quiet some time to wait at the Farp for the slicks. I will think about it how I can shorten this waiting time or how I can make thinks a bit more interesting during this time.

Hay Painter,
very nice and challanging mission. As you wrote too, the Slicks had a bit much time idling on the ground waiting for CAS to clear the LZ. Maybe the CAS flight should start so much earlier? I might be wrong tough, and it was great fun nontheless. Thanks!

Apologies for my technical difficulties. 2 rift disconnects and then the internet went off Grrrr.
Nice mission but as mentioned too long for the slicks to sit waiting. I would rather have further to fly than sitting around.

Or maybe doing some initial FARP resupply task back and forth while CAS is sweating for us, or piling up the troops from take-off field into FARP to fly them to LZ Â after it's cleared. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." only trying to be constructive... still can't thank enough to Painter...

Thanks Painter for the Miz... it's good...
For the Slicks... with G/S......
From T/O to FARP straight line - put some significant nasty stuff (real or just  INTEL) to ensure (or dictate) a good dog leg.  INTEL dictates SAMS so NOE required.  Have 'hidden on F10 map' random small groups of enemy infantry (small arms only) positioned on expected routes.  These will engage the flight as they go along. Â
This will necessitate
- Flight planning by Leads
- avoidance action - correct 'break' tactics initiated by lead with G/S escort calls.
- G/S suppression
- re-group
- continue mission.
x1, x2, x3 etc how many you want? Â
Have INTEL dictate a different route back with similar or WORSE threats...
OUT & RETURN This Introduces ...
- NOE earth flying - always exciting in formation - improves all skills no end....
- a random attack factor for the slicks - they know they are probably going to be attacked but not know where!.... These positions can be moved regularly so no new mission play is the same.
- additional problems for the Flight Leader and G/S escort to deal with as per SOP's
- Practices correct threat calls (type, bearing, distance) amongst all the flight
- Get the balance right with enemy group size and armament and no ships SHOULD be lost
'Balance' can be easily worked out with a simple straight line flight mission any night...
In initial runs have a option of a FARP spawn if any transport flight is lost en-route by enemy fire or collision etc... Â makes it more playable for all experience levels..
Just an idea....

Very helpful ideas and comments so far!
I like the ideas Gizzy. How can I trigger groups "randomly"?(D/229) Gizzy wrote:From T/O to FARP straight line - put some significant nasty stuff (real or just  INTEL) to ensure (or dictate) a good dog leg.  INTEL dictates SAMS so NOE required.  Have 'hidden on F10 map' random small groups of enemy infantry (small arms only) positioned on expected routes.  These will engage the flight as they go along. Use a random flag and then use flag is less than and flag is more that in the groups

Re: Flight announcements - Post here
Automatically random placement would require a bit of scripting ....
Here I meant the mission designer anticipates the transport flight routes and places small enemy groups randomly at say 2 cut points of the route. Â It may take several groups to cut a route. Â With the properties of these groups set to 'hidden on map' as you know the incoming flight would have no knowledge of their presence or position.
Every once in a while the designer changes enemy position / routes  to remove complacency of the slicks ha ha BUT keeps perfect control of things...
A bit of experimentation would let you know what works.... Â run a simple miz locally to experiment and get a few guys to join... Â I'll be up for it any night.....

nice one Painter, looking forward to it - may want to change it up a little and make it a little more diffucult for the A10C's by adding a single SA-13 somewhere around the lake IMPO

I am also thinking about to add Air2Air threads and configure 2 Mirages accordingly.
I guess will be online tonight around 2300z, if somebody wanna fly it again.

Hey Bravo, I am back in the saddle again and look forward to meeting up with you all again and meet any new guys. I will be online Thursday evening and hope you can pop along for a get together and catch up. You can also see what happens to my flying skills when I have had such a long time away from flying my slick
