Oculus Rift Empty Oculus Rift

Post by (H/229) Skeeter Thu 28 Feb 2019, 01:28

Update my rift is dead.
Ok so if you are having trouble with your rift going black they recommend the following. Be sure all USB drivers are up to date and power management is off. Video card is up to date. Check cable at both ends for damage or bent pens.
Appears the random black screen is the rift’s death throws. If you open a support ticket they offer the option of a refurbished HMD.
Will update on cost and warranty.

@ Skeeter
You try this Before Spending any $$ on your Oculus..?

Oculus Logs for troubleshooting
(I didn't enter anything in log box... just gave me my logs ( .zip format) on Desktop so I could look at 'em

or ...

Oculus Tray tool  ( power management function) ?
Oculus Home  ?
Windows 10 updated lately....?

HDMI Cable Check ?
Can ya change/check on another computer's Video card ?

Just thinking out loud with my fingers on KB

I've had the intermittent Black screen/no worky worky before....  but I wasn't gonna let Oculus beat me outta another $250.oo+

Just sat down & went thru  all the above....  turns out mine was the pwr management function ( on ) so I turned them all off.. no issues since What a Face

Pulled the logs and everything points to something in the HMD.
Its doing more than the black screen. getting some weird artifact of blue and red lines. Once or twice I have gotten static.

My Vive kept going black. I replaced my cable and it works fine now. Rift is a different beast but might or might not apply here...

Skeeter, how is your Oculus? I had been having momentary black screen with Oculus. Yesterday I flew for an hour and plugged Oculus directly into computer instead of usb and hdmi extensions. I had no black screen. I think the problem was my extensions.

I bought a new one.
Mine was a direct plug into video card and usb.
I had more than black screens. Was also getting blue/red artifact with random screens of snow.
I am going to try my new headset cable in my old headset to see if it was a cable issue. On my log file it was showing where it was losing tracking also which makes me wonder if the cable or the headset plug is bad.

Well I’m still getting temporary black screen without extensions. I opened oculus tray tool and disabled power management. What do you mean in the above when you say Oculus Home?

Oculus Home?
Also be sure to check you power management settings in the USB settings in Device Manager.

On thing also to try is have someone wear the headset and flex the wire down it’s length to see if you find a bad spot.
