That's awesome...plenty of room for an FPV setup if you wanted.

Kitty Hawk. They also make the UH-1Y version too, and a few others. Best plastic kits Ive ever built, and Kitty Hawk are relatively new to model making.

Re: My Spring/Summer project
Man your using Krylon to paint it? Thats expensive, surely some OD surplus from the army and navy will be just as good :p

Looking good can't wait to see a video of it in flight Very Happy
I actually sampled a few different brands of OD paint before settling on the Krylon camo. It's the closest I found to the actual OD green I was looking for. The others were either a tad too light or dark. At about $8 USD per can, it's not too expensive. (especially when compared to the overall project. what's another $30? )

The fuselage came pre-painted from the factory in that god-awful green color you see in the above pics. Initially I had planned to use 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to prep, but realized doing so might knock down the rivets and other subtle details. I ended up just scuffing everything up really well with scotch brite pads, then cleaning the fuse thoroughly before painting with the Krylon.
Having never embarked on a complete re-paint before, I am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out.

Re: My Spring/Summer project
I guess I played for the import tax as it's an American brand not commonly available here. I use it for touching up some of my guns

Re: My Spring/Summer project
Way back in the 80's I was involved in a Vietnam re-enactment society. I have an 8mm blank firing M16A1 a Colt 45 also fires 8mm blanks and my trusty airsoft SAW. I also still have a full set of M56 Webbing including buttpack and a set of LRRP ERDL fatigues and other bits and bobs, dunno what happened to my tigerstripe fatigues or my claymore bag
PS I have hunting rifles too but don't paint them with Krylon

Trust me. It was long, slow process, with frequent breaks, in a very well ventilated area. I played it safe.

Re: My Spring/Summer project
Might I suggest:
A red diamond on the tailboom just ahead of the sync elevators, a "screaming eagle patch" on the vertical fin and nose door, flat black paint on the stinger cover, cross tubes and skids, and nose to include nose door, and last but not least, red skid caps. Oh wait, that was my bird.

Great suggestions!
I think I'm going with a 1965-66 229th A Company slick. "Winged Assault" crest on the avionics door, A Co. blue triangle on the cockpit doors, etc., etc.
