Sling Load Fun!
Well, maybe "fun" isn't the correct term. BBall and I hooked up tonight for some practice moving cargo from Kobuleti to a designated FARP. We used a mission from the net and it does need some tweaking but does the job of creating "tension" and "frustration" while trying to attach the cargo. If this doesn't improve a pilot's hovering skills I don't know what will
Before I fly again, I need someone to clean my windows. It is amazing how well they have modeled the flight model while carrying cargo and seeing the load swinging side to side. Definitely much harder to keep things stable while flying. Anyway, here are the shots:

I know it is a little late Nef but I should have posted a link to the mission that I used. It could be better with respect to having all of the available cargo properly separated. In some cases, the cargo is mixed with other loads so once the smoke stops, in can be a little tough trying to hover over the correct load. Anyway, it is near the bottom of the page and is called "Dallas Training".

Sling load
Just started playing with sling loads... some success, but probably not enough to impress an IP

Edit: Ok, I think I figured it out, perhaps pics are shown from a third party site and only attachments to the message?

Hey IJammer...if you're new to DCS Huey sling loads and you get them hooked up and moved, impresses me, however, looks as though you had a bit of an engine problem in that first picture...lol

Yup, not sure why the Lycoming was about to erupt? However, their seems to be a bug with the Huey sling loads; it may be associated with the MP memory leakage problems? I have been flying at a steady 40 knots in a straight line with the load hanging steady... then all of a sudden it all goes pear shape. I put that down to the memory leakage bug... also doing a screen save can disrupt the sling load... causing a catastrophic end
The Virtual Aerobatics DCS server has a sling load/cargo facility at MinorMainVody (I hope that spelt nearly right?) That's mainly where I have been practicing sling loads. I have not managed to collect a load from a 5ft hover yet... still messing with getting the 'trim' sorted out. Although I believe that there is an under hanging camera to assist with hovered pick-ups? I found that the 120mm extension to the TM Warthog stick helps with the control of the cyclick; I do have another 110mm tube... so I may try it with both on.

Re: Sling Load Fun!
Hey guys,
Yeah, IJammer, using the “cargo camera” is actually a must when trying to pick up a load from a hover. It’s a bit tricky to use while hovering, IMHO, it’s almost like I have to concentrate on the hover while using my peripheral vision to see what the camera is telling me... Takes a bit of practice, but it works well. I have it mapped to the HOTAS so I can toggle it off and on at will...
On a side note...truly sorry for being so AWOL lately. In the last 30 days or so, I’ve been home a grand total of less than a week. June was a bitch for me in terms of work, family commitments, etc... and I was online TWICE! Griff and I jumped into a couple of Bf-109s and got our asses handed to us in the ATAG server...lol. Was frustrating, but still fun as hell.
Hope to see you guys online MUCH more in July.
Have a great day all!
