Flying/training Thursday 13/10/16 18.00 Zulu All Welcome
Hi folks.
anyone who wants to attend is welcome. I would like to cover some LZ training, some circuits to keep us on form and a cargo lift relay race. Teams to be decided on the night.
I would encourage any WOC's who are keen to start training for the Basic wings to join and they will be well taken care of.
If there is any task from the basic wings program that you would like help with please ask beforehand so we can incorporate it into the evening.
The things we can assist with are as follows
1. New member induction
1.1.Objective: To introduce new members to the 229th AHB training, SOP’s and expectations
1.2.Competencies expected: At the end of this session the member will
1.2.1. be aware of the 229th website and where to locate reference documentation
1.2.2. be aware of the Battalion training program and how this is linked to their experience and skill.
1.2.3. be aware of Company training program
1.2.4. be aware of the Battalion office bearers, their roles and responsibilities

2.2.1. an understanding of the main aircraft instruments, controls and systems
2.2.2. correct aircraft start-up procedures (not auto-start)
2.2.3. making ready all equipment and systems for operational flight
3. Basic Wings – Hover power check
3.1.Objective: Perform a hover power check as per 1028 UH-1h ATM 2007.
3.2.Competencies expected: The pilot will demonstrate bringing his craft to a 5’ stationary hover.
4. Basic Wings – Perform hovering flight.
4.1.Objective: Perform hovering flight as per 1038 UH-1h ATM 2007.
4.2.Competencies expected: The pilot will demonstrate
4.2.1. bringing his craft to a stationary hover in ground effect, for 1 minute
4.2.2. a hovering turn around the masthead maintaining an appropriate rate of turn

5.2.1. from a hover, smoothly accelerate the aircraft through ETL whilst maintaining an appropriate
hover height and desired ground track relative to the conditions
5.2.2. obtaining and maintaining the desired climb speed (60kts) and rate of climb
6. Basic Wings – Perform VMC flight manoeuvres
6.1.Objective: Perform VMC flight manoeuvres as per task 1052 UH-1h ATM 2007

If the training part of the evening goes to plan and on time I hope we can run either (B/229) Painters latest mission or (A/229) Showtimes Medevac down depending on numbers and preferences. I am holding off from running NTTR missions on the Company evenings until everyone has the Nevada map (Sorry Flick
)
Hope we can have a good turnout

How long will we be flying? I need to get someone to watch my kids. Also, was universal radio replaced with simple radio? I've got simple radio working, just need to update to latest version.

Hi Robb
There is usually people flying from around 1800z until quite late sometimes (for Europe) - so around 0000z - but not always the same people all the way through. Depends a lot on turnout of course; if there is a big turnout, people get persuaded to stay on longer

And correct: we are using Simple Radio version 1.2.8.0; you can always check the current version in this post:

Look forward to flying with you on Thursday

I will be there Thursday. Thanks, I need all the help I can get. Changed my nickname to something a little more simple. I just realized I can change my teamspeak name.

Re: Flying/training Thursday 13/10/16 18.00 Zulu All Welcome
Thanks for putting those sling load pics up Cib... that looked fun. I used to enjoy playing with the sling loads with the Huey on the VA server a year or so back; not used it since... but if your doing another sling load dance I will try and get back to make next Thursday nights early start time. I did set some buttons up on my controller for hook and un-hook but can't even remember which ones now, I will check out my key mappings to refresh my failing memory.
Edit: Oh, if anyone who is knowledgable on sling-loads is around earlier in the week, I would appreciate some refresher/tuition on the sling-loads... it has probably changed a bit since I last played with it.

Sling Load
Thanks Painter... I appreciate the offer. I will look out for you on the server. The last time I used sling loads on the VA server their were quite a few graphical memory leak problems associated with using the sling-loads... One minute I had it hanging nicely... the next was a race to the bottom. I think the unslung load won LOL

Then the sling-load did a 360" rotation chopping the main rotor and tail rotor off... Huey and sling-load race to the bottom LOL
