What type of dampers or shock-absorbers would be good to use on a cyclic to get that hydraulic feel?

I was looking at RC shocks but I have no idea what they feel like. Are they strong enough to keep the stick where I leave it but not so strong that it takes away from the sensitivity.

I use 1:8 Scale RC Buggy dampers. Two dampers on each axis. Feeling is better then spring loaded joystick.

I built myself a floor standing cyclic and added the dampers. For grip I use cheap joystick handle. Ex Blackhawk and active Robinson R44 pilot gave a thumps up for the setup. He´s comments were it feels similar to Robinson R44.

I been looking into the matter and found that Komodo and others use dampers. Cyclic needs a counter weight or counter spring, other wise it falls to lap.

I have seen people use motorcycle dampers.

There is a lot of info in this area of the ED forums

There is one particular one that provides link to a collar for attaching springs

Flying the real thing with the force trim off feels like a wet noodle. Without hydraulics on you can feel the feedback of the rotor system through the cyclic. But with hydraulics it feels loose like power steering on a old Chrysler.

Komodosim Huey cyclic.  The dampers are very weak so the stick will flop over if left unattended.  Counter weighting shown here stabilizes stick in a cone of @ 5 degrees forward, R and L;  and 2 to 3 degrees aft of center.  This area can of course be modified but this first try setup works for me.
