Re: Group photo!
My turn....my turn! Yes, great time flying tonight/afternoon gents! The JG.229 Staffel did a great job over France and the channel tonight. One of these times, we need to get some of you bomber pilots in the air with a few 109's as escorts. The highlight of the night was after you guys left. Showtime and I were flying and Mr. 69th Hawk came over to the Axis Teamspeak channel and was PISSED OFF! Basically, he accused an axis pilot of cheating and he entered the virtual bar looking for a fist fight. I had to go into cop mode and told him to beat feet and he quickly apologized. But damn....some people. Like the allied planes don't do crazy shit. Oh well....and now for the screenshots!

Getting some ammo and fuel for the flight over the channel
The Duke lining up for a kill on an unsuspecting Spitfire
Cannon fodder!
Yep, PK baby!
And when you have great wingmen, this is what happens

Had a ball too. I won't add more screenings of us lined up, but I grabbed some too!
I'm going to go hardcore Ju-87 this week kicking off the StG.229th and get to grips with dive bombing and then it's just up to you Emil pilots to get us there!

Re: Group photo!
GREAT SCREENSHOTS GUYS
Wow.....
EIGHT KILLS!!!
8???? WTF? You trying to eclipse “Bubi” Hartman himself? Before long, we’re gonna need a special skin just for you. Maybe something in a “red” like the Fokker Dr 1 of yesteryear?
Me thinks I’m going to have to side with “Mr.69th Hawk” (or “Butterbuns”....or whatever his name is)! YOU SIR ARE CLEARLY CHEATING! (Just like ALL of you Axis scum!! LMAO!!!) Isn’t it funny how each side always thinks the other side has the “cheater patch” and is getting the upper hand in some sort of evil fashion? (but ....8 KILLS?....hehe)
Yeah, again, a terrific night over the Channel. That group gaggle “perfect bounce” out of the sun onto those 5 Spitfires was a classic! Herr Staffel Kapitan (#2) Showtime lead it perfectly. They never knew what hit them! General Galland would be proud!
Highlights for me:
- Downing a Blennie and a Spit within the first :30 of the night (didn’t get credit for either of them), but I WITNESSED the Spit slide to a stop (no kill for a forced landing maybe?), and the Blenheim was smoking like Cheech and Chong when headed down (and SIX said his message said it was a PK).
- “The Perfect Bounce”...brilliant. Schoolchildren will be singing songs about it someday!
- Blew up my 500th radiator! BTW Griff, when YOU join the “500 Club”, you’ll get a spiffy new cap like mine! (I saw you looking at swiping it in the Ready Room last night at briefing).
- The sounds of all the different players we had. New voices, new pilots...just what online flying was envisioned to be waaay back in the days of dial up and 2mb vid cards! Maybe a “Training Night” would be a good thing?
Lowlights:
- My gunnery sucks! SEVERAL times I had saddled up on a Limey bastard, and when I smoothly pulled the trigger, my brain somehow turned that into a panicked “jerk” , my rounds went everywhere but where I was aiming! I’m thinking about moving my MG/cannon “trigger” to the thumb button on my HOTAS (like the Spitfire’s button at the 11 o’clock position on that gay little round joystick thingy they have). Hoping it’ll keep me from “jerking” it too much (wait...that didn’t sound very good).
- My energy management sucks almost as bad as my trigger technique. Again, several times I came screaming down out of the heavens only to overshoot the bastard and NOT be in a good position. I would then be forced to do a defensive barrel roll (or some stupid such maneuver) and enter the fight on ugly terms. I would give a months salary for a speedbrake on this thing! Thoughts?
But all in all a super time. We DO need some bomber boys (or cannon fodder)...that would be excellent.

Re: Group photo!
I agree a training session or two would be a good thing to practice forming up and maintaining visual. They also host that full switch AI server which has AI pilots flying missions on the map. Humans can join and of course I was told a lot of the red pilots were getting so pissed about PK's that they were flying against the AI
I spend plenty of time flying against the AI in offline mode trying to work on my gunnery skills too. I try to fly the E-1 whenever possible since if you get some kills in the E-1 you a) know your gunnery skills are improving and b) your loadout is set up right. But I must admit, that E-4 is a really beauty in the skies and not worrying about the prop pitch is wonderful. I am starting to think that recent changes regarding the flight models (I know..I know...they have the cheater patch) has changed the playing field with regards to climbing away from spits and hurricanes. I also acknowledge the fact that the red has some great pilots who really know how to fly the Spitfire. I just have to remember that the 109 is a hunter/killer with a quick strike and a quick departure. Then, I can be more successful. I think we are progressing well and if we can manage to stay alive longer without damage, the JG.229 will be feared in the virtual skies! Also, I need to get over the fact that the 109 very rarely will get the "instant kill" with wings flying off and the plane departing to the earth. I was getting credits close to an hour after one encounter once the darn spit/hurri finally crashed or got bounced by someone else. Get them venting and odds are good you'll get a kill (eventually).
By the time we ended last night, Showtime and I had completely flown around the southeastern part of England and found one single chap nearing Littlestone. Two E-4's on a single spit equals death! It really felt rewarding working over that guy while we timed our bounces and climbs.
I agree on the Blenheim thing and I don't think the server is giving credit for killing them. I got two Blenheims last night, at least I participated in getting them and my stats never changed after the encounters. Oh well, at least they went down, right? It ain't about the points Kapitan. And I'll be ordering my new cap today.....

I agree too, some training will help us organize quicker and have a better situation awareness. When I first jump on ATAG last night it seem we were chasing our tails around the airport LOL...Still fun though.
After the mission rolled to the next mission we were able to stretch our leg out a little bit and group up and fly to England that setup the engagement that BBall mention above. With the sun at our back and altitude on our side..I would be lying if I told that I planed it that way, but we were just at the right place at the right time. Like Griff said, Hunter/Killer, that was a good example of that, or with the pictures above showing Griff and I hitting a Spit that never new we were there.
Had a blast last night and hats off to Mr. Griff, he was a killing machine last night.
