Would you like to put in an order?
Simroom UH-1H Controller set
Guys,
I've decided to create a new thread for this as I'd kind of started hijacking the home built cockpit setup page and I don't want to detract from the excellent work that has been done there.
Simroom are manufacturers of racing simulation seats. They have an excellent steel frame setup with a racing seat and controller mounts and I am a very proud owner of one and for any of you into racing sims, do yourself a favor and go buy one -> Simroom Website
Recently they have started looking into the opportunity of making an adaptation to that frame to support flight controls and have come up with 3 variants to date. Version 1 will mount your Thrustmaster Warthog with the stick in a central position and fitted with an extension
(image to be posted)
Version 2 is a helicopter control set modeled on the Eurocopter AS350 Squirrel
Version 3 is also a helicopter control set modeled on the Bell 206 Jet Ranger
These 3 flight variants will be available for purchase in February, with the option to buy the complete rig with seat and steel frame, a conversion kit for an existing VR3 racing chasis or the control sets only for the 2 helicopter kits.
They are currently finalizing pricing and I will post that information as soon as I have it as well as information on if the individual components such as if the collective can be sold separately from the other controls.
Now to the interesting part...!
I've been chatting with them this week about getting a collective head made specifically for the UH-1H to replace that of the Bell 206. They're open to the idea and if there is enough interest, they will make it. We also had a discussion about making the collective head itself modular and interchangeable so that if they wanted to make a collective head for the AH-1G when it is released, you could buy just that part and mount it to your existing collective rather than purchasing the entire controller every time that there is a new helicopter and this would open up their market and reduce the costs.
What I need to know from you is would you buy one?
Post any questions that you have here and I will answer them or go get them answered.

I will buy one. Im actually after the Collective, Cyclic and pedals, at a good price. The Heuy collective head is a bonus if we can get it, so if its all possible can you give a price for the three components of Collective, Cyclic and pedals. I would expect some slight inflation with the Huey/ Cobra collective head.

I will buy the UH-1H controls (subject to price), but I am not sure about the UH-1G head as I am not sure if I will get the cobra. The option to obtain at a later date is a bonus though.

Further update;
Interchangeable heads are a go! They're on board and committed to finding a strong and reliable mounting system with mil-spec connectors to carry the commands through the controls to your PC.

Re: Simroom UH-1H Controller set
Highwayman strikes again gonna give you my number actually i think our CO has it but you need to ring me when you start the ball rolling on this sort of thing it would've saved me endless days of head scratching and hacking apart various controllers just to make a working collective grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at all my lost hours.
On the flip side though i'd be up for one of those.

Update from Belsimtek says that they will happily share photo's, but not sure about the 3DS model of the controls yet. Whilst this won't stop the production of the heads, it will slow the process down and add quite a bit to the R&D costs...
Fingers crossed that Belsimtek see the possibility and work with them

Re: Simroom UH-1H Controller set
I looked through their site and saw the list price on the car sim kit at $11,500 and almost choked. I'm thinking parts and pieces now...Still like to have the collective and cyclic.

Re: Simroom UH-1H Controller set
So if you didn't want the motion kit, it would be $1,000?? that's a more reasonable price...I'd probably go for that.

Re: Simroom UH-1H Controller set
Just checked out the site again...looks like the base kit is $11,500 and the up-graded motion kit cost an additional $3,350. I hope I'm not reading this right...please tell me I'm wrong...I want one...

I'm pleased to say that you're wrong, unless the full motion kit is what you want!
This one --> here <-- is the base kit that I have that I will be mounting the controls on.
--> Here <-- is the fully packaged racing kit with the base and the 3 piston motion kit... But I'd recommend the 4 piston over the 3 from what I've seen...
--> Here <-- is the standalone 4 Piston motion kit
I don't have the motion kit, and I can't imagine how much of a brain melt getting it working in DCS would be, but I sure as hell would love to have one for racing sims!
The reason for the high cost of the motion kit is apparently to do with the response timing of the units. The cheaper ones you see on the market have a little lag in the response times to around the .5 to 1 second range, whereas this kit is supposed to respond within .012 of a second if I remember correctly.
The base rig minus the seat is pretty much the same for the Aero FX package when it is for sale. That kit then adds a surface plate to attach the controls to and the AS350 seat ( which at the moment is a real deal from the Aircraft, but too expensive for gamers IMHO, we're working on that ) and then obviously the control set that you choose.
