2.1 Normandy Map
As some of you know the Normandy map seems to be having some problems. I wanted to start this thread for people to post confirmed info on your game.
Please include VR or not, game settings, rig specs, FPS, and or know issues.
This may help point other's in a direction to get smooth game play. Lets see what works and what does not.
Thanks.

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Nevada is now fairly bad compared to the old Open Alpha.
Normandy of course is not too hot on the FPS front.
WITH ME, MSAA and Anisisotropic Filtering appear to be the real FPS killers.
Eventually, I I found this to give good FPS results although if your are banked in a huey at 50' not much you can to do to get rid of the stuttering - but it helps, a lot.
Set MSAA and Anisisotropic to Zero.
If using NVidea goto 'Manage 3D settings and turn everything on...
Keeps the NEW GOOD visuals I want and NVidea handles the tearing and diagonal lines etc...
i7 6700 OC 4.5, W10, STRIX 980Ti OC, 16GB, SSD pushing 4K.
This works for me, MP may be different though...

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
An addendum to above, final tweak of putting shadows to 'Flat Only' and 'VSync on' put an extra 10-15fps on top so over Caen Town @ 50'AGL 40+ fps with a lot of the time at the locked 60 fps.
For Normandy letting NVidea do the work of anti-aliasing is good.... not so brilliant on Nevada though with all the straight lines of the buildings etc..

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Thanks for the effort on the GFX setting Gizzy. I will adjust my GFX with your settings in mind. I finished installing a couple of hours ago and had a breif fly round Normandy, crossed the channel and landed at Tangmere in a P51.  First impressions are impressive... but more anon.
Only issues I had... Â I had to use the command line box to use the DCS updater to force the 2.1 update. Â Also the 'key code' input box for Normany lost focus/infront and I was looking at a loading icon for twenty minutes on the DCS splash screen before I realised where the input key code box was LOL I also chose my time to install... i.e. 8am when the USA was asleep; the servers just locked up else and the data to slow. At 8am... I was getting 1.5 - 3..5 Mb/s d/load... so it only took two sessions of a couple of hours each.
Later...

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
BOLO for the blue shadows issue. Flat shadows gives you a greenish blue flat shadow with Deferred Shading on, while any higher shading gives you a dark blue shadow. Best to just leave deferred shading off until they fix it, especially since its too high in gamma.

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Having trouble. Can not log into the Normandy Map multiplayer server. Is the $30 WWII accessory pack required to join the server? Thanks.

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Commanchero, I think it is an issue with the server, I cannot get in either and I have the asset pack.
The original version of the OpenAlpha server mission I did not include any assets as such but I know SIX has enhanced the miz a lot. I was hoping to get in and have a look to clarify but no go, so probably hung...

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Checked further - you NOW need 229th standard MODS pack installed in the OpenAlpha...
If you have aleady installed it in DCS stable then goto
Saved Games\DCS\ and COPY the MODS folder and PASTE it into Saved Games\DCS.openalpha
Hope this helps....

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Pulled down the mission and had a look. There is a Train and flatcars added as enemy, so yes, the asset pack is needed.... sorry...

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Hi... I did get in a couple of times when I had the 229 'mods' folder in my Alpha saved games folder. However, to gain access to other servers that run the integrity check (green shield) I had to remove it. It seems that certain DCS servers are now checking the saved games folders for alteration and failing them (denighing access) if they see a 229 mods folder. I have the assett pack for Normandy.

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
The latest patch released yesterday has really helped make Normandy playable again for me. 45 fps in the rift with 8x AF unheard of up to now

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Yes, Normandy and Nevada appear to have been improved.... of course the Gazelle FM tweaks make it much nicer to fly.

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
Depends on your interest and wallet - 'worth it' is very subjective.......for me, IMHO, Jets probably not, WW2 Birds of course, especially in MP WW2 environments, Helo SP probably but available missions dependent... for Helo MP missions I think it's brilliant especially for NOE roles...
Normandy is mainly flat with a small hilly spine running down the cherbourg peninsular ... and of course you have the channel isles for marine stuff (with a big dose of imagination)
I like it but like all things YMMV...

Re: 2.1 Normandy Map
If its on offer in the sales I would get it. Once 2.5 hits I hope we will use it more for missions. I think its the best map for our types of missions especially with the LOS keeping you safe and collidable trees if your careless
