Polychop Split!
If you been following ED forums lately you will know there have been some issues within Polychop.
Oliver Michael (BO-105 & STUKA projects) has announced a formal split with PC and founded his own ED 3rd Party company 'Poly-Dynamics'...

Hopefully the Gazelle can soon be worked on AND the BO-105 developed and released too.... here's hoping...

Re: Polychop Split!
I'm hoping the BO-105 might be good, but I personally feel like the Gazelle is now a lost cause.
That's not to say it isn't fun to fly, but it's not nearly on par with the other three DCS helis and I'm done with it unless they surprise me and fix it.

Re: Polychop Split!
The worst part is I purchased TWO copies of the Gazelle module, and two copies of NTTR because I planned to use the multi-crew functionality extensively via LAN when I had friends visiting. I would sure like to have that money back now.
It's a shocking difference switching to another DCS helicopter, though maybe it would be less so without SimShaker for Aviators and/or the motion sim. To quote another member of this squadron the Huey feels alive.

Re: Polychop Split!
Borchi - Polychop - has been interacting on the DCS forum re the Gaze3lle FM which is good - although mainly to answer some question relating to 'way out of flight envelope' observations.... but has initiated interaction with RL pilots for comments of FM behaviour which can only be beneficial.
I have been spending quite a lot of time in the Gaz of late and the strange thing is the more I fly 'in normal envelope' without silly collective inputs the more I enjoy it.
As an aside it seems there is another Helo being worked on by Polychop besides the BO-105 above from Poly Dynamics..
Interesting times albeit 'when' is another ballpark...

Re: Polychop Split!
I want a Vietnam era Cobra. =)
Did we have any light "scout" helicopters with decent weaponry before silly modern technology (guided weapons, TV's and cameras, autohover) ruined things? =P
The one and only reservation I have about the Cobra is the two crew thing. It really would be a shame to not have it multicrew. That said, I still want it developed by BST. PolyChop and Poly-Dynamics have their work cut out for them as far as earning my trust back.

Re: Polychop Split!
You may have a long wait for the Cobra.
Hind 24 appears to be on the slips.
Understand your point on the 'trust' front but as for PC & PD hopefully they will get there..
The Huey was I believe a bit of a mess when it first was released and then matured. There are still some issues even now. Nevada Map is not finished, the Caucasus map has loads of problems as they try and move it to the next engine and no doubt Normandy will have a load of issues too. All dev's have problems with their modules mainly caused by releasing early to generate funds to progress development.
Unfortunately it's just the way it is with DCS and for on average $40 a pop for a alpha module or map I can't see it changing..

Re: Polychop Split!
I agree with Gizzy. The Cobra is one of my favorites and I've been waiting for it for years and probably will wait for years to come. However, I will stay the course and keep hoping that someday someone will develop something that brings that excitement in DCS back in me like the UH-1 did. I know it's coming, just don't know when.

I'd personally like to see the UH-1y Venom at some point. I really enjoyed flying them in Arma 2 a few years back. Hueys for life! haha.

Re: Polychop Split!
Oh no wait! Then I'd need a twin huey collective right?
Second thought I retract my support for the venom sorry, I want more low tech rotary wing aircraft.
How much tech is in the Hind we are expecting?
Huey for life, but the Cobra is closely related and the Hueys favorite companion.

'expecting' might be too strong a word...
I would imagine the 'tech' would be low grade compared to current models and probably a multi cockpit cross between the Mi-8 & KA50.... with the excellent Mi-8 FM tweaked accordingly... so rumour mill has it.... apparently...
This will give you some idea if you want to start building ...
