The video features Cib as lead but this debrief is not based on his performance alone. This is a formation debrief about multiple flights we performed these last few days.
In formation flight remember the three parameters to crosscheck. Stack (altitude) angle and distance. Once out of position try to correct the errors in this order. First get the correct stack, than the angle and once on that 45 line move closer of further while maintaining the 45 angle.
Once lead calls lifting in 5 start pulling collective aswell. You want to be in the correct stack and departure at the same time lead takes off. Maybe even takeoff a bit earlier as trailing aircraft to stay out of leads "downwash" and it makes it easier to do a formation climb out aswell.
Running landings can be done but keep speed under ETL, preferably 5-10knots max or do a 0 0 landing (0knots 0 ft).
The UH1 will require a lot more power to maintain 500ft per min descent once at 30knots and below. Remember the nose of the aircraft wants to come up once increasing collective, so be prepared to counteract and keep the nose in the same decelerative attitude once increasing torque.
As nr 3 or further down in formation also crosscheck your position with the lead aircraft. Yes you try to set you position by looking at the guy infront of you but if he is out of formation a lot, try to hold your stack as much as possible by looking at lead and let the other aircraft regain its own position again. This will also help everyone behind you to provide a stable platform for them to focus on.
