The following terminology was pulled from Airman Training Manual 1-211 (ATM).  This will be the Preferred method of communication while flying missions.

Good afternoon Gentlemen, the list provided is a good way to recognize acronyms and abbreviations used in Operations Orders.  Please check in the instructor’s tent for a list of preferred terms to be use by U.S. Amy Aviators.  The list was taken directly from the 1-211 Aircrew Training Manual (ATM).  This manual is the bible for training new students at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, home of the Unites States Army Flight School, so you can feel confident that these terms are used within all U.S. Army units, world-wide.  I will include them here for your review.

I see slick posted in several missions. What is a slick?

A slick is a (UH1H) helicopter dedicated for flying troops. Normally there will be slicks (unarmed helicopters expect doorguns) and gunships.
