Server crash reporting Empty Server crash reporting

Post by (HHC/229) Dabomb Sat 29 Aug 2015, 17:23

Hi guys,

I noticed when I checked on the server this morning that it had crashed and was offline. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it typically occurs either during a mission, or on attempting to load a mission. So I have a favor to ask of you: If you happen to be on the server when it crashes, can you please post to this thread the approximate time the crash occurred and what was going on when it crashed. Specifically, the following info would be helpful:

Was someone trying to load a mission? If so, which mission?

Did it crash suddenly while in the mission? If so, which mission? Did the crash appear random, or did it happen at a trigger point in the mission?

All of this info will help me in my efforts to keep the server online as much as possible. My hope is to get some automated monitoring in place to detect a crash and restart the server when that happens. Until then, I need to rely on you guys to help me out if you would please. Thanks guys.

Server crash reporting Did-i-do-that

It happened to me today while i was checking my downloaded MODS.
It was training map (the usual one for training slingloads transport, weapons and stuff at Tbilisi airbase)
It was around 10am CET.

Mission was paused and i unpaused it. First i flew around but when i wanted to get to F6 for slingloading there was no smoke (some 10 min. into mission). I was on TS with some lads from 229th but alone on server. I was advised to disconnect and try to reconnect but was not able to connect again. In lobby it said there was 1 person on server (me probably) and duration of mission was stuck on 5 sec. Someone else, do not recall who, tried to connect but no joy.

Sorry if i did not report sooner, i was not aware i must do that. It will not happen again.

No worries, Nage. You're not "required" to report problems with the server, I'm just asking if you can should you be on the server when something weird happens or it crashes.

This morning when I checked the server desktop, there was a mission script error pop-up box on the screen and DCS was no longer responding. I killed DCS and restarted it. Not sure what the script error was, so I'm going to check the log files later and see what I can come up with.

Dabomb, this is probably an issue with my system but I just want to run it by you to be sure.
I run a fairly robust rig and use Voice Attack while Simming.   Occasionally TeamSpeak dies on me.
When I minimize the server to reload TS my screen will go black and I gotta use task manager to kill DCS.
Not asking for troubleshooting assist, just offering it up.

Thanks for keeping us up and running.  The 229th server is a sanctuary.
