Newest "new vid" from "Battle of Stalingrad"
Yeah, I know you guys are getting tired of my lame attempts at film making, but too bad.
Here we go again...
This is from a mission in a "mini-campaign" that one of the Devs recently made. He had access to the Mission Editor, and was showing some of the cool stuff you can do with it (it should be released soon I hope).
Again, use the "HD" function and for God's sake, turn up the sound!!!!
(also, notice all the little details that these crazy Rooskie sumbitches put into this sim. Things like: flare signals, the wheels that continue to spin as you retract the gear, the "siren propellers" on the gear struts of the Stukas [they activate them right before they begin their bombing dives], the leading edge slats on the Bf-109 wings that slide in and out when you approach the critical angle of attack, the explosions and ground crashes, the snow as you taxi through it.....almost too many tiny details to mention!)
Hope you enjoy it!

BBall...Do you understand the word "enabler"...that's you...I've already went through one flight sim intervention...that cost me six months in flight sim rehab...now my shame will be that I fly "Battle of Stalingrad" without my wife's knowledge. All kidding aside, great video...makes me want to kill some commie bastards. Thanks for the great video...

Flyer my man...we all live in shame.
J/King of course.
Yeah, so this thing IS on sale right now, but like I mentioned in the other post, unless you're into the SP thing (or yanking and banking on a DF server), you might want to wait until they:
- offer dedicated server stuff,
- release the M.E. so as to allow COOP missions to be made.
THEN me thinks this might be an incredible WWII experience. We here at the MSP LAN group, enjoyed the old legacy "IL-2" for almost 10 years, and I get the feeling that this one will have legs like that (after the aforementioned tweaks).
So.....you get your ass up here to the frozen north next October for our annual LAN weekend...and we'll call that your "intervention" (only it will feature LOTS of beer/food/fun AND tons of flight simulations!!!!)

Nice vid BBall, that certainly has the 'feel' of WWII that DCS is missing... If only there were co-op and private servers, I'd be in for sure

Re: Newest "new vid" from "Battle of Stalingrad"
Well, I jumped in along with Strut this weekend and I can say that I'm not disappointed!
Love the visuals, and the flight model is great. Really enjoying the scenarios and the 'feel' of the atmosphere flying my Stuka on the Russian front! It's not as detailed in the intricate systems modelling that DCS has, but the vital systems are all modelled. No clickable pit either, but honestly I don't care, I usually map everything to my controllers anyway. It certainly does have all of the little details that are missing in DCS though as far as the WWII era goes.
Now for the real kickers...
The dedicated server module has just been released
The updated and friendlier Mission Editor was also just released
It's on sale at 50% off this weekend on Steam

I'm not a bad shot if you need a gunner for that diving beauty.

I've registered for a dedicated server key on behalf of the 229th, so we'll see if we can get it hooked up!

Re: Newest "new vid" from "Battle of Stalingrad"
Well, the unrealistic and difficult ground handling in this game annoys me to no end, and I like a clickable cockpit where I do the startup myself.
That said the visuals are really good, the damage model is excellent both technically and visually and the flight model is decent.
I think playing this sim MP only is definitely an option. I saw a flight of 5 Stukas lining up on the runway for a raid the other day in MP, and it looked awesome.
Going MP only also means you avoid dealing with IL-2 BOS's annoying SP setup.
