Missing Man Formation
I have the sad task of informing the battalion that we have lost one of our members. CW3 Sniper, a member of the 229th since 2013 has passed away. He was a good friend that loved flying with us. He was a past member of the U.S. Army elite sniper teams and loved his time in service. I spoke to his wife tonight and she informed me that he passed in July of this year. I let her know that I would pass this on to the battalion. His last post with us was also in July so that tells me he was a member until the end. If you would like to phone your condolences to his wife, she can be contacted at 812-427-3009. She very much appreciated my call so if you can contact her, please do so.

Re: Missing Man Formation
Thats very sad news Flyer. Would it be possible to know his real name mate ? and would it be possible to get an email address if possible, if you dont think thats a thing to do, il respect that. But Id like to write to her. And as a retired Australian soldier id like to send her my sympathy and condolences for a friend and ally. I knew Sniper briefly and spoke to him a few times, we hit it off pretty well coming from similar backgrounds. Lest we Forget.

Re: Missing Man Formation
I never knew his real name...his wife called him Sniper when we spoke so she knows his simming love. She said she had to disconnect her internet when she lost his income...so no email. I felt pretty bad for her...she expressed a great love for him...calling him her world. I let her know that his friends, from our organization, who had served in the armed forces from all over the world sends their condolences so no need to contact her unless you feel compelled to do so. I just thought she would really appreciate knowing others who thought highly of her husband. I would do this for any of our organizational brothers.

Re: Missing Man Formation
Unfortunate news. Thank you Flyer for passing this info on, and for contacting his wife and passing condolences from all here.
Sadly, I too only knew him briefly and spoke with him a couple of times.
RIP Sniper.
Cherish today, as you know not what tomorrow brings.

Re: Missing Man Formation
RIP Sniper, He will be missed.
I'll never forget the day, when the 229th was in its early stage, we flew a mission together alone for hours. I really got to know him well then, and he was a damn good pilot.
Is anyone interested in actually flying a missing man formation? Maybe someone could record it and we could post it here in remembrance of him

Re: Missing Man Formation
If you want to do it with the UH-1 we might need to change the procedure a bit. But getting a four ship formation online can be done.
