Request to join
Hi everyone. My name is Doogie. I've been flying DCS since the beginning and I'm a big fan of the Huey. I fly helicopters in real life. Did 23 years in the Navy flying the T34C, TH57, SH60B, and UH-1N. After I retired, I was the Chief Pilot for our Sheriff's Office flying the OH58 and UH1H. I just retired from that job after ten years, and still fly an AH1S for a local museum. Currently sitting at just over 7,000 hours, all turbine time, and I'm a real world helo CFI. I'm really interested in doing helicopter centric missions with like minded folks! I'm based out of Reno, NV, West coast time zone.

Sorry mate, you’re going to have to come back when you get some more experience :-)
Just kidding obviously, welcome sir a pleasure to meet you. You’ll find the 229th a very friendly and helpful bunch of guys from all over the world and I’m sure with your vast knowledge you’ll be a very valuable team member. We have quite a few current and ex military pilots and aircraft technicians in the group so you’ll have lots of opportunity to chew the fat with many like minded folk here. (Ex RAAF Iroquois flight tech myself).
I can’t set you up personally but rest assured the flight instructors and senior guys all monitor this page so it won’t be long before one of them see your request and get you up in the big blue with us all.
In the meantime, we run the beta version of DCS, so if you’re not all ready on that you could get that downloaded and installed, you’ll also need TeamSpeak which you can get here https://www.teamspeak.com/en/
Additionally we all hang out on Discord which is where we plan our get togethers and share information, below is a 24 hour link to our Discord page.
https://discord.gg/989cB7
Don’t be shy, we’re all very welcoming so jump onto Discord and say hello ????
Just hang tight mate, I promise someone will be along real soon to give you all the permissions and get you flying with us.

Wowza. That's quite a resume Doogie. Glad you decided to join us! I'm sure with all that experience you've got an intimate knowledge of these machines. We've got a few other heli pilots in the group too. Comanchero flies a huey. Six is our most active HHC, he flies blackhawk. A few others.
If you're a discord guy, we got the discord widget in the bottom right corner of the page (on desktop). We also have teamspeak, which you can usually find people on in the evenings. When you activate your account you should receive an intro packet in a PM. That should help orient you to our stuff.
Any questions, hop on TS or discord sometime and we will sort you.
I'm changing your forum name to (A/229) Doogie. That's the username you'll use to login here from now on. I'll also activate you for A company.
Look forward to flying with you Doogie!

First, Welcome to the 229th Doogie! I’m sure you will love sim flying with like minded people. I currently volunteer with a group of Vets who tell the story of Army Aviation. We currently have a H model Huey that we fly and have another we are rebuilding and will be flyable in June. I’m a Crew Chief with this outfit and although I get a lot of stick time, I’m not a rated military Aviator. But thanks for the compliment Huck!

Good to have you. Great to have someone who can teach us proper deck operations. I won't be on TS to as much until I finish this course in a few weeks. I hope to catch up with you soon.

Welcome, Doogle!
You seem like a God sent instructor to someone like me
I live in Europe though and might be a challenge to do some training with you in the future, but 9 hours should not be a real obstacle to getting together some day.
I am looking forward to learning from you !
Cheers
