Not a great experience you had OP Gazelles shooting Blacksharks out of the sky. I'll pass thanks!

Speak to others don't just take my word for it I watched a video of a Gazelle undertaking manoeuvres which would of ripped off the swash plate (we used to fix em then fly IN them) rotor hub taking down Black Sharks!
Anyone else share their experiences of the Red vs Blue competition?

Re: Helicopter Tournament 5
About a half a dozen of us participated in one a while back flying MI-8's. I think Gunfighter six flew a KA50. We got our asses handed to us. Partially due to a failed strategy on our part and partially due to lack of coordination. We went into it like an organized assault where in actuality it needed to be treated as a mad dash to the airfield to be captured followed by an all out shoot out. We tried to coordinate a meeting with the other KA50 guys but never happened so they just kind of did their own thing. We could only coordinate with six. In an all out shoot out Huey with flex guns and Gazelle with Mistral just has it over the 8 and the 50. Also lack of an AMC doomed us. Think they have a gamemaster on each side now. Also looks like they have gotten a little more sophisticated in their mission strategy. even though we were doomed still enjoyed it...I am not a big shoot and blow shit up guy but I do enjoy playing against a live OPFOR. Anyway let us know how it goes. If it has gotten more organized maybe I will jump on another down the road. That 2 March date does not work for me. BTW B Co is doing regular Vietnam themed missions twice a month at 1900Z...looking for more pilots. I know the the time slot is a challenge for you but just wanted to let you know about it...Look forward to flying with you

Toro hit the nail on the head from my POV. I thought it was fun, novel, and a great way to engage the community with DCS Helos. But between the Huey flex sight and gazelle munitions, the PvP scramble rather than assault orientation, and the techniques in that field demonstrated by those ECV56 guys who always take the huey spots, something had to give, and it was red coalition.
It seems to have changed alot since then, reading the briefing. I'd like to give it another shot sometime, but naturally I'd want a huey.
