Bearhedge reporting in
Hi all,
I was kindly pointed this way by Freak from Mudspike after I wrote a bit of a log of my Huey ground attack experiments.
About myself. 34 years of age, was in the military for a couple of years (intel / surveillance / recon, did a Kosovo tour back in -05) but I'm a desk jockey these days. Originally from Finland, I live in NZ now.
I've been flight simming on and off since Su-27 Flanker days. I played Hornet 3.0, Korea, Warbirds, Il-2 etc. but didn't fly between 2009-2015 or so. Slowly working on my PPL in real life, although that's on a bit of a hiatus at the moment.
Got into helicopters in DCS since I got pedals last year. I've got the UH-1, Ka-50 and Mi-8 out of the helo modules. Mostly flying the Huey, albeit my flying is still pretty rough around the edges.
I've done a bit of multiplayer flying the Huey, flying slicks around saving pilots etc. I can do most basic stuff but struggle with sling loads still.
In terms of conflicting interests I have to disclose that I've got a busy job, a 4-month old at home and a wife who for some reason doesn't love my weird simming hobby...so unfortunately my attendance is likely to be a bit sporadic.
That probably sums it up. In any case, life commitments aside, I am a keen learner and eager to fly with you guys whenever I can so it would be great to join your shenanigans.
Best,
Hedge

Hey Bearhedge, glad to see ya pokin around.
The Asia-Pacific group (C Company) is a little thin theses days.
I understand your particular interests are in gun tactics. If so, D Company is your best bet. Lets us know so we can get the paperwork going.

Hi Bearhedge,
I work with D Coy and 8MATES.... PM me if you are interested in going down the Gunship route and I can fill the blanks in for you.
There are three pilots currently GS initial training with the Huey that later will also crossover to the Mi8 and the Ka50.
Time zones can be tricky but with some ingenuity it is worked around okay... you are +12 on me...

Thanks for the welcomes!
D Coy sounds good - I'll send you a PM, Gizzy.
The timezone thing will be tricky but I'm sure we can manage something.

Hey Bearhedge,
Processed ya for D Company and I activated you for full forum access and set up your call sign,
(D/229) Bearhedge. You can change it if you had something else in mind.
You'll use this call sign on the forum, our servers, TeamSpeak and Discord.
Gizzy is probably easier to find on Discord but if no one home try TeamSpeak.
I'm usually on TeamSpeak weekdays around 2300 - 300 Zulu to help with orientation.
We'll get ya modded up for the 229th servers.
Download OvGME if you haven't already.
Have fun.
