Shout out to C/229
Gday guys
Newly winged and pretty keen to do some regular flying
Im off work so have been fortunate enough to be able to jump on during the day and ambush some of the A/229 guys on the server (many thanks to Six, Chic and Huckleberry for putting up with me) and the few others I've had the opportunity to fly with at this point who have made me welcome regardless of my inexperienced performance.
Hoping to hook up with any other A/NZ lads if your still around or laying low, if you need someone to fly with hit me up, I'm available pretty much anytime and will work around your availability.
I've spent a bit of time in the KA50 and am fairly proficient engaging with guided munitions, aerial rocketry though - I am a complete hack and really need some guidance.
I prefer just flying about in the Huey as a slick, formation work is all new to me and lots of white knuckle flying has resulted in me annoying the crap out of others (sorry bullet magnet) whilst I slinky my way around the skies.
I'm not really pursuing a gunship role, would probably prefer CSAR to guns. I enjoy scouting though, but haven't done much in the gazelle as yet, I'm really waiting for the OH58D Kiowa Warrior (fingers crossed).
As an x-grunt, I really just enjoy troop insertions especially being able to do it with a bunch of real people (not AI) in formation.
Hope to hear from some/all of you soon.
Cheers

Re: Shout out to C/229
Hey Gadget, I've got our last flight session up on my channel if you're interested. Toro's in it too.
As always, its long and unedited, so might not be riveting viewing material, but may provide you another perspective on how we were faring behind ya. I may put some timestamps on later.
Good job with flight lead. And surprising formation chops from the non-229th guys.

Re: Shout out to C/229
for anyone who is interested in some funny footage...
about the 34 min mark is the bridge landing (terrible lead in - thats all on me)
view is from Huck as the #5 or #6? ship
he was sick of lead so passed it off to me (I suspect just for shits and giggles) & so he could watch the others
34:30 F15 under the bridge and vertical tailslide
35:30 F15 2nd attempt - splash!
38:30 bridge span collapse
it's not visible in this footage, but i saw it in the F2 view, the #2 huey behind me slid off the collapsed span, then hovered back under the collapsed section and out the right hand side
which was an amazing save, probably all tin-ass luck, but still amazing

Re: Shout out to C/229
Yeah that bridge collapse was like I was living a scene out of The Mothman Prophecies...
Seriously though I'm kind of impressed by the delayed collapse of the bridge. Like it had been structurally compromised and took a minute to totally fail. And then in map view, that part of the bridge was gone from view. Shows how much thought goes into this game, that we may take for granted. I do at least...
