135th AHC ANZAC Day and Reunion
One of the great things I get to do with my volunteer organization (Friends of Army Aviation-Ozark) is to meet and support Veterans. Next month we have the honor to host the 135th AHC (motto "Get the Bloody Job Done") at our hangar for lunch and Huey rides.
I know our own C Co guys here will have a interest in this and I was wondering if any of you know or are related to anyone who served in the 135th. Comanchero

I went to Galipoli in Turkey and paid my respects... Did you know that the actual town nearest the fighting was not called Galipoli... But it wasn't such a good name to have on a memorial.. (Anafarta)

My father would have had a few lifts from the 135th during his year in "Nam", as an infantryman.
I'll be thinking about you whocking around on ANZAC day Comanchero...jeliously of course
I'll taking my 4 year old son to the local dawn service for the first time this year.
One day - I'm hoping to take my father back to Vietnam for an ANZAC day as well.
The stubbourn old bugger won't renew his passport!!
Hope the event goes well.
I can't recall what I did for ANZAC day when I was at Rucker (1990)....I think it was just a normal work day.

Tell your Dad he is not forgotten. Thanks for all he did. As we say in the States, "Welcome home."

Re: 135th AHC ANZAC Day and Reunion
Just got home from our event at the Hangar. Had a great day and made new friends. Over half of the participants were Aussies and their families. Heard some fascinating war stories and it's always special to watch the Vets share their love of the Huey with their family members. Everyone had BBQ for lunch (it is South Alabama after all). After lunch we flew twenty guests in our aircraft. Some had somber expressions as they relived the experience that occurred over 45 years ago, but all had smiles as they exited the aircraft after the flight. After the flights were complete a cooler magically appeared and the Vets shared a cold one or two and told more war stories. Myself and the rest of my Flight crew abstained until the aircraft was safely in our Hangar and the Logbook was done. Eventually the tour bus showed up and we said our farewells. What an honor it was to meet these Vets. I'm fortunate to be able to volunteer to make events like this happen.

A well deserved "Coldie", I'm sure!
......and many more fortunate that you do volunteer mate!!
Also had a great day taking my 4 year old son to his first Parade.
I taught him to salute the old (and young) "Diggers" as they passed.
