Using TS within SRS
Hey guys, just a thought...
Would it be possible to use the INT radio for communications for TS? That way we do not have to mute TS anymore while talking on radio 1,2 or 3. If you need to talk on TS, switch the Radio Selector to INT. The PTT button for SR should than be temporarily disabled and the PTT button for TS should be activated.
Don't know if this is possible. I for sure do not have the skills to make this happen.
Like I said, just a thought.

Re: Using TS within SRS
Hi Razor,
Yes it is possible and relatively simple to set up.
SR is independent of TS.
SR transmits when DCS Cockpit export parameters and SR Configuration both allow a transmission then your mic input is directed to SR server and re-broadcast etc...
There is no linkage between SR and TS.
When using SR the TS microphone should be muted.
You certainly can have a configuration whereby a mapped switch (Hard, manual>mouse or VA) pushes the cockpit rotary to Intercom thereby silencing SR transmissions and also have this same switch configured in TS to un-mute the Mic and allow the transmission over TS.
Of course a reversal config needs to be set up.
This would work with KA and with a bit of fiddling the Mi-8... however the Gaz does not have an Intercom function as yet but something could be worked out I'm sure.
Could be a pain getting ALL the people to set it up though
Personally it would be easier to get as many as possible to just use SR and have a mapped switch, manual(mouse) or VA, that silences the MIC. Okay, if you un-mute the mic you are broadcasting on SR and TS but that should only be for a minimal time and in special circumstances....
Problems arise when long conversations are engaged in this mode - they should move to another channel rather than double broadcast...
Hope this helps Sir...

I just use different push to talk buttons for TS and SR. It keeps people from trying to talk when their mic is muted. This happens all the time.

Re: Using TS within SRS
The way I have it set up now is:
A joystick button assigned to the INT command turns the Mode Selector to INT. The same button is also my TS PTT.
A second joystick button assigned to SR PTT. I think this will do the trick.
Thanks guys.

INT only works with the gazelle since that is shared cockpit.

Re: Using TS within SRS
Fun fact, and one that has caused me confusion and minor headache in the past:
My TS PTT is my cyclic trigger switch, and that trigger is also my radio menu. The latter I believe is the reason why SR insists on using it as it's PTT also.
So whenever I click my trigger to access f10 options, or to talk on TS, it also wants to broadcast on SR unless my intercom selector is on INT or PVT.
I like to be unmuted in TS just in case I run into problems I don't have to alt tab out and risk crashing to unmute myself. So I added a secondary SR PTT as my collective engine start trigger switch. I'm getting more and more consistent at using the right radios, and maintaining ISS awareness before cold start and/or broadcasting on TS. I thought it was definitely worth noting in case anyone else was finding similar issues.
