Hello, my gaming call sign is Toro 6. My name is Bob, I am 63 and I live in New Mexico, USA. I previously applied with this group almost two years ago but at the time my inexperience resulted in me just spinning my wheels. At the time I had the passion for the huey but lacked in the skills dept and had very little hardware. I was definitely not ready. Today I still have the passion for the Huey, my skills are far better and my hardware situation has improved from a thirty dollar joystick. I now have a Saitek X52 and track IR. I do not currently have pedals but am planning on transitioning to them. I have several DCS modules but my passion for the Huey is why I am applying. IF this group still does multiship Huey flights/ missions, I would like to try and earn a chalk #.
I am retired from the Army. My real life experience on the Huey is as a maintainer and a Door gunner. As a doorgunner I was lucky to have no one shooting back. My stint as a doorgunner was during my tour with the 117th Assault Helicopter Company in Korea

Welcome Toro 6. I also use X52. Works great. I highly recommend putting a couple zip ties on the spring. That really made things easier on me.Previous applicant Img_8315

Less centering force, meaning it's easier to find / hold / make small corrections at stick positions further from center. Handy at times you're not in trim.

I was in from 1993-2013, spent most my time in 3ID at Hunter Army Airfield, GA. I believe it was 24th before it switched to 3ID. I wore the Taro leaf for about a year before I got the broken tv set. I was in D Co when it was 24th, and switched to A co when it became 3ID. We watched the decommissioning of the Huey while I was there. Sold most of them to law enforcement agency's for $1 a piece. Cobra's were still there for a bit and finally watched them fade as the Apache grew stronger in force.

Gizzy, thanks for your help on getting me set up. Your OVGME for Dummies guide is great because I am the posterchild for non techie dummies. I have logged into the server and I have logged onto teamspeak. I currently have not activated any of the optional mods. Although I have not had a checkride, I am retired so I have way to much time on my hands. Let me know if you guys get together to do some flying. I need formation practice. Pretty sure I can keep mid-airs and blade strikes to a minimum. Looking forward to flying with you guys

Thanks Toro... yes I have plenty of time too... we can happily make some available to do a check ride (Basic Wings) and some formation practice but from what I saw to day whilst training with Flub it'll be a breeze for you sir.

Your first port of call should be via Chic though, he is the A Coy Unit Trainer and about most evenings but I doubt there are any issues....
