Interested in Flying with the 229th Air Assault battalion, 1st Cav Airmobile.
Greetings,
I am interested in flying the UH1H with the 229th. I welcome the opportunity to expand my knowledge by learning from like minded pilots. Though I have had the DCS UH1H airframe for quite some time (a couple years) I have relatively low hours in it. I have had no formal training in it, I just have done the pick up and take off exercises. My interest is in tactical and support roles, such as troop transport, supply, med evac, reminiscent of the Vietnam and Cold War activities.
I have and always have had a soft spot for the UH1 being a veteran myself, as well as when I was younger the Uh1 was the helicopter of the time, especially around Tennessee filling the skies at the air assault base at Fort Campbell.
I have always had respect for the chopper pilots, such as Bruce Crandall, john Dean, as well as Hugh Thompson jr. there are many more living and dead who served, who flew into the "shit" selflessly for the good of others.
I do have fight sim experience, I got my first flight sim 1995, and since then I have flown many. I have considerable time in the F16 c block 50 airframe with the Falcon series (4.0 and Allied force etc). the most recent is the F18E superbug on the p3d platform. carrier ops naval strike.
I also had a sim MedEvac Vietnam.(low quality graphics and simple flight control but was pretty good for its time.) I liked the premise for its missions.
Though my experience has primarily been in fixed wing aircraft. I willing to pursue my want to fly the UH1. I have flown with groups from time to time over the years but they fell apart so I spent most of my time flying single. I welcome comradery and friendship. I welcome the opportunity to learn from others.
In closing I look forward hearing from you, I am located currently in Columbus Ohio,. Those that have flown in the flight sim world with me, know me by my call sign "Famous". please feel free to contact me any time.
GARRYOWEN!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Richard "Famous" Amos

Famous,
welcome to the 229th. Your forum access has been activated. An intro letter from the brass is on the way. In the mean time, set up your call sign to access this forum and TeamSpeak. Example: (A/229) Famous.
Come on TeamSpeak when you can. Someone will show ya around and get you server ready with mods etc...
Once you're settled in, we'll orient ya to the basic wings training program. Have fun.

Good to have you aboard, Famous.
Ohio huh? I used to go to the air shows out in Dayton back when my mother worked for Vectren. One year, they had Guinness World Records out to document the worlds longest wall of fire! Good stuff..
I look forward to flyin with ya.
