Huey Phase Maintenance Pictures
I hope this works. I am posting pix of our Huey during it's annual phase maintenance. The panels are off and you will see pix of the Huey you might not have seen before. I started at the front and went down the left side to the tail and up the right side to the roof. I included two objects that (if they failed) you would have a very bad day. The lift link which connects the transmission to the fuselage and the "Jesus nut" which attaches the rotor hub to the mast. I have two pix of the droop cam, the first shows the collective full down and the second shows the collective full up. Notice the lever to the fuel control moves very little between the two settings. You may be appalled by the amount of grease on the rotor system but we purged the hell out of it after our event on the Florida coast. As a crew chief those pix are mortifying, but it will be cleaned up. We live by the motto that grease is cheap but lives are not. If you have any questions
about the pix please ask.
about the pix please ask.

Those are awesome -- thank you so much for making the effort to post them. I love seeing the stuff "under the hood", greasy or not.

Ahhh Yes........ Mobile 28
... Brings back many memories when I was Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico working for PHI Petroleum Helicopters Inc (mid 80's)
At the time the only folks who operated more helicopters were the US Government & the Russian G'ment. PHI had more than 400 thru-out the world. Loads of fun.

Re: Huey Phase Maintenance Pictures
Are you able to make pictures from cyclic gimbal and from control links that go to magnetic brake and force gradient? Thanky you

Re: Huey Phase Maintenance Pictures
Thanks Comanchero. One more request for you in the name of Huey community. All who build a Huey 1:1 cockpit will thank you.
Could you make pics from the cockpit also.
I personally have not seen pic from the seat. Seat mechanics ho to adjust height, levers, frame work.
Also 90 deg side view of seat.
If you have some ruler, It is great help to get the measure from the photo.
Thanks again

As you can see from this pix we pretty much strip the bird down to it's bare fuselage when we do our annual inspection. So right now there is nothing in the cockpit. The pilot seats are out of the aircraft and I can easily take pix of them. Be aware our seats have a lot of their armor plates missing for weight saving. But I will be glad to help if I can.

Re: Huey Phase Maintenance Pictures
Thanky you Comanchero. As we can see the force gradient is quite simple and "easy" to replicate in home cockpit. Magnetic brake is something that needs a good substitute.
Here is a drawing about force gradiant. Source http://incolor.inetnebr.com/iceman/helicopt.htm

Awesome pictures. I'm right down the road from you in Senoia. Do any volunteers help during these maintenance jobs? Not that I have any free time to volunteer for anything.

Re: Huey Phase Maintenance Pictures
Our organization (Army Aviation Heritage Foundation) is all volunteer. Some volunteers have skills in aircraft maintenance that is put to good use. All work is shadowed, inspected and signed off by FAA Licenced A&Ps. If you are interested, our main chapter "Legacy" is very close to you at Atlanta South Regional Airport. We are always looking for new members.(A/229) Rob wrote:Awesome pictures. I'm right down the road from you in Senoia. Do any volunteers help during these maintenance jobs?
