X-plane VR with FlyInside X-plane
Hi
I must confess that I got addicted to X-plane and civil helos and haven´t double clicked on DCS icon in two weeks.
Reason for that is I got a spot in Flyinside Beta program for X-plane VR. And this thing sucked me into it.
I fly in helos (Dreamfoil AS350 and Bell 407, Rotosim.de EC135, R66 Turbine, X-Trident Bell 412) in Austrian mountainous area near Innsbruck. Scenery I use is highly detailed orthophoto scenery (Bing zoom level 18) and World2XP autogen that perfectly matched autogen building, roads, forest to the ortho scenery. Another spectacular photo scenery is Helsinki Metropolitan area scenery (Finland, north-east europe).
Some moments took breath away. The future of flight sim is great. Yes there are issues and its not problem free, but when it will be then its just beautiful.
Main problem is "low" resolution and frame rates. I use i7 6700k (stock clock) and 980Ti, this combo will give me around 30fps in high density area and 50ish in cross county flying. I fly mostly 1000ft AGL and the scenery under the cabin is crisp and sharp like a real thing. At lower altitudes the orthophoto gets blurry.

Looks beautiful! I just recently got the dreamfoil 407 and am in the process of downloading and installing hd mesh v3 and tree clutter then I guess I'll have to split my time between dcs and xplane.

Before VR I found a Dreamfoil AS350 just impossible to fly with. It was too sensitive and went all over the place. AS350 was the absolute last in helicopter list. Now AS350 is nr1 we have this love and hate relationship
