To ALL 229th Members

Gents in the event of a DCS World update at the weekend make sure everyone flying the Battalion Mission is updated prior to attempting to fly as part of the mission. I will ensure the DCS World Server is updated as well. Who knows DCS may surprise us and not update, but i suspect "Murphy's Law" will find us wanting because we are running a Battalion Flight.

And to reinterate from Dabomb make sure your simple radio is updated to 1.2.6.0

This past update broke the MiG-21, so keep that in mind.

They just released a small update to fix the MiG-21.

Question is should we apply before the weekend? Probably so, because a lot of volks will auto update it?...

May as well wait to see if there is a Friday update.

Its not released, its in prepurchase thats all. Not really sure if Ill get that one though, I havent been too big on anything other than the P-51 in the WW2 department.

The latest update for 1.5 OB released today is incompatible with the 229th Additional Objects mod. Note: I am referring to the additional objects mod installed via JSGME, not the Standard Objects mod that is installed via ..\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods.

Am I correct that the additional objects mod is not needed at all since everything is included in the Standard Objects mod that is intalled via \Saved Games... ?

Yes and no.  The additional objects mod is optional and adds some objects that are not typically necessary for most of the missions we currently fly. I believe the rationale behind it was to keep the size of the "standard" objects mod (containing those objects most frequently used in mission building) to a reasonable size.

The  229th Combined Views Mod 1.4 is broke as well.  (The Night Vision Mod in particular).

I believe that there will be no Mod support for the Open Beta in an attempt to limit Ed's workload. Only 2.0 and RC 1.5.4 will have support (Officially)

Understood.  Just passing along observation.
BTW, the Combined Views mod can work in OB if you delete the BAZAR folder in the mod thereby eliminating only the NVG part of it.  The issue with the NVG mod and OB is posted on ED forum.  Hopefully gets fixed.  Don't wanna lose that mod.

Don't rightly know.  No mention of terrain/map changes in Change Log, and I haven't had chance to fly it yet.
Thinkin this update not worth the effort till some issues resolved.  See Hawkeye's post re Change Log.

Just a heads-up: Update 1.5.5 is out, stating network protocol not compatible with 1.5.4 version, so before joining a MP from now on, (I guess) everybody should double check to have been updated.

I hope they fixed the stuff that was broken last Friday instead of just pushing this update to 1.5 stable as it was.  The change log points to the 11/3 update so I am concerned...

EDIT: I updated the OB server. The 229th Additional Objects Mod are still broken with today's update. Still looking for anything else.

Interesting, I am pretty sure it was 3.3 GB for me as far as I remember looking at it... I might be wrong tough...

Might be how many modules are loaded/activated when updating I have quite a few
