Medevac Campaign
Cool mission. Just completed the first flight, which was to ferry out a new Huey to the Field Hospital. 130mile flight, in plenty of rain. Had to cross over a couple humps. But managed to bring my bird in and landed perfect on the pad. Woot!

Re: Medevac Campaign
1st Cav was the only unit to fly armed Medvac helicopters in Vietnam. I am trying to do research about it because you dont see a lot of pictures of 1st cav Medevac helicopters. There might have only been a few aircraft. From what I understand most of the Medevac was external support. I will keep digging around, but it is safe that Medevacs were unarmed but for a very small exception.
I might try and contact these guys for more information.

Hey guys,
Try this book, "Dead Men Flying: Victory in Viet Nam The Legend of Dust off: America's Battlefield Angels" by General Patrick Henry Brady (Author), Meghan Brady Smith (Author).
http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Men-Flying-Americas-Battlefield/dp/1936488353
He talks at length about the difference between "Dustoff" and "Medevac". I finished it a few weeks ago, and HIGHLY recommend it.

Re: Medevac Campaign
Read that book a few years ago, great read. The more I fly the more I think that guy had more luck than brains. The lines between dustoff and medevacs have been blurred these days. Not really sure what the difference was back then. In that book dustoff was a specific unit. But I think dustoff is just a call sign for medevac helicopters. http://www.chuckandlorene.com/

Re: Medevac Campaign
That's in the second link I posted. I did not know that until I looked it up. I have read a few books on medevacs never thought to look up what dustoff ment. I am still trying to figure out how 1st cav was able to arm there medevacs. My unit got into trouble for taping over the medevac cross just do some training. They take that law of armed conflect stuff serous.

I read this book not too long ago. Was a real good read. Yep, he does speak about the diff between Dustoff and Medevac quite a bit.
I'm now 1/2 way into Chickenhawk.
Wavehopper, you've got a great campaign here. Looking forward to "subscribing" to further missions adds from you...

Cool, I'll check it out. Needing to add something right after Chickenhawk.
Edit - Just bought it, and it's now in my Kindle E-Book rotation. Will read right after I finish Chickenhawk.
Thanks GunfighterSIX!
