Re: How to Install and use JSGME for DCS (Video)
Thanks frenchy! Great tutorial I have it for 2.0.
My question is, is there anything different to do for 1.5? I have jgsme in my program files. If I make a shortcut and put it in 1.5 dcs folder will it mess with the 2.0? or do I need to have two jgsme files with different names?
Thanks in advance

Copy the JSGME shortcut and paste it into the same place. It will name it -----copy. Rename it to ........ver2A for example it.
Right click it, go to properties, change Start in: box to your DCS 2.0a path.... probably ""C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha""
Job done, one shortcut for 1.5 and one for 2.0.... the only difference is the folder in which they start...

Hey Hub, you only need JSGME installed once, just two shortcuts. one that starts in your DCS 2.0 install (as you have now), the other that starts in your DCS 1.5 install. Also make sure you make a _Mods folder or equivalent in each install.

Re: How to Install and use JSGME for DCS (Video)
I had a heck of a time with this. Here is how I got the 229th mods to load through JSGME:
Note that I previously had the mods running fine by having these 2 folders in place:
And that's the story of how I got JSGME to work. Now I'm wondering if other mods are going to work the same way, using the same shortcut. I will post a reply if they don't.
Note that I previously had the mods running fine by having these 2 folders in place:
- Code:
C:/Users/username/Saved Games/DCS/Mods/tech/229th Standard Objects 1.4
C:/Users/username/Saved Games/DCS/Mods/tech/476 Range Targets
- Cut the /tech folder out of Saved Games/DCS/Mods and put it somewhere else, we will cut and paste it again later
- Delete any JSGME files that have previously been placed by the program in your failed attempts to make it work
- Create a shortcut to JSGME.exe, right click it, properties > change Start In to
- Code:
C:/Users/username/Saved Games/DCS/Mods/
- Apply, OK, run the shortcut. It asks you for a different mods folder. Call it what you want, I'll refer to it later as _MODS
- Click Tasks > Generate Snapshot (should be quick since there's nothing in your Saved Games/DCS/Mods folder except _MODS)
- Make a new folder in your _MODS folder. Call it "229th". Paste the "tech" folder, which contains the "229th Standard Objects 1.4" and "476 Range Targets" folders, into that new 229th folder.
- Now go back into your JSGME app (using the shortcut) and you will see the 229th mod ready to be activated.
- When you activate the mod, it will take the "tech" folder from of /_MODS/229th/ and pull it up 2 directories into your "Saved Games/DCS/Mods" folder.
And that's the story of how I got JSGME to work. Now I'm wondering if other mods are going to work the same way, using the same shortcut. I will post a reply if they don't.

Re: How to Install and use JSGME for DCS (Video)
UPDATE: Please disregard my last post. Follow this one instead.
IF you want 229th mods to load from JSGME, then follow these next instructions.
IF you want the 229th mods to always be loaded regardless, then keep your 'tech' folder in your Saved Games/DCS/Mods folder.
To load 229th official mods through JSGME:
I was confused in my previous post, about the fact that "tech" folder was nested within the "Mods" directory. So, JSGME was just placing the tech folder in the main game dir instead of in the main game dir / Mods / tech.
Great tutorial Frenchie. I guess it just takes a little longer for special characters like myself

To load 229th official mods through JSGME:
- Follow the steps in the tutorial provided by Frenchie. Make a shortcut of JSGME.exe with a path pointing to your root DCS game dir. For me, that's in G:/DCS World.
- Create the _MODS folder as per in Frenchie's instructions. Generate snapshot through the Tasks... link in JSGME.
- Wherever you have the official 229th mods now, it should be pasted into your _MODS folder so that the hierarchy looks exactly like this:
- Code:
.../_MODS/229th/Mods/tech/229th Standard Objects 1.4/...
- Code:
.../_MODS/229th/Mods/tech/476 Range Targets/...
- Then, if you ever want to install another mod, such as Skull's Vintage UH-1 Huey Sounds, you can download it and add the folder "Skull's Vintage UH-1 Huey Sounds" right into your "_MODS" directory.

Re: How to Install and use JSGME for DCS (Video)
Hi Huck...
Just for clarification, the '229th Standard Objects Mods 1.4' is intended to be used from the 'C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Mods' folder and not via JSGME to avoid triggering the integrity check required for some MP servers as requested by some guys.
https://1stcavdiv.forumotion.net/t2120-official-mods-for-the-229th
Other MODS are via JSGME or OVGME..
Of course if you want all MODS to load via JSGME thats fine too... and is probably more reliable in the long run as when DCS changes some components break and are more easily disabled until a fix if found.
Confusing, yeah I know...
