Today is a very sad day
Today XH558 will make her last flight doing a tour of the UK. The last flying Vulcan. I for one will be raising a glass in her honour.
If my memory serves me correctly she was used as a K2 variant for tanker duties during operation Black Buck, The mission to Bomb Stanley airfield in 1982. the refuelling plan is  crazy!
Anyone fancy flying an 8000 mile bombing mission is this cockpit?

Re: Today is a very sad day
You'll probably have a hard time getting in these days with the downsizing of our forces over here.
I was RAF Regiment, an infantry soldier basically, although when I was in we had more rapier squadrons than field squadrons. I was lucky enough to never get sent to rapiers. These days the regiment is all field squadrons.
