Hey fellas...
Greetings guys.
I'd like to start by apologizing for being "AWOL" for the last several months. I've had the pleasure to do the occasional pop-in to Team Speak, and fly a circuit around the airport, but I'm hoping all that is about to change, and I can become an active member of the unit again.
As some of you know, I've been off flying status at the airline for the last six months with a slight medical issue (vision related), but that has (thankfully) healed itself. With that said, anyone that's ever earned their paycheck from a cockpit, knows that when a bump in the road like this hits your career, the paperwork and/or beauracratic bullsh*t one has to deal with is insane. Thankfully, all that is behind me now.
As of last Sunday evening, I have been certified to return to the cockpit (in fact, I'm writing this from the Westin in San Diego). I was home a grand total of 24 hours (from my 3 day "special requal" simulator checkrides in Atlanta) when the Crew Schedulers called and asked if I'd be willing take out a 2-day trip (for extra pay of course)! Apparently the bastards can't run the airline without me!!!!
With all that rot spewed, I was thinking of this little adventure as my next write-up. If anyone is interested, I took some rather copious notes after each days ride in the Boeing 757 simulator (while sitting at the hotel bar of course), with the thought of doing a piece on just what it takes to go from "village idiot" back to certified "line dog" (in regards to what the FAA requires us to do). Took a few pics too...
Let me know....oh, and just in case anyone cares....YES the weather in San Diego (and the bikinis) are spectacular!
