Hi guys,
I'm from the Netherlands and I am 22 years old. I have always been fascinated with helicopters and flying them in different games.
I have spent about 1500 hours flying in a milsim unit for Arma 3 where I was part of the rotary transport squadron. But this was all in the basic(not advanced) flight model and it got a bit too easy.
I was always fascinated with the way helicopter work and wanted an experience which was more realistic. So I bought a HOTAS pack and some rudder pedals and played take on helicopters for a couple of months.
Just recently I bought DCS and the Huey module.
I am a complete beginner in flying with advanced flight models and with DCS, but I am very keen to learn and I am a quick study. The main reason I didn't like take on helicopters and regular flight sims is that I missed being in groups(every game I play the first thing I do is try and find a group to play it with).

I hope I can join you guys and learn from you.

Cheers,
Erik aka Recon Nine

Hi Recon Nine, welcome. If you are into flying helicopters you’re definitely in the right place...!
Lots of people to fly with who are all so helpful and friendly so you’re going to have a ball...
The instructors all monitor this channel so rest assured one of them will be along shortly to get you going.
I’m Australian but often fly with the gentlemen from the Euro side of the globe so I’m sure we’ll be flying together very soon.
Have a great day and I’ll see you soon in the Big Blue...!

Hi Erik,

Thanks for enquiring.  It seems that your account has been deleted... generally speaking this is done by the user.

If that was your intention, that's of course fine but if it was a mistake or you still have interest you can rejoin or email me at gizzy.229thahb@gmail.com and I sort it for you.

We have active vHelicopter pilots from all over Europ so you will be made most welcome.

Regards
Gizzy

Hey there Recon Nine,

I really hope that the deletion of your account was just by accident. I as well have my Flight Hours in ArmA as "shuttle Pilot" for huge MP Sessions and I always loved it, thats why I searched for a dedicated Group who is performing this particular sort of Flying. The ArmA Community does A) not offer such an effort for just flying and B) the Type of Simulation is nive but not fully satisfying. Thats why I looked for a DCS Group and found my new home within the 1stAirCav 229th AHB. I´m flying the Huey since Initial release whereas I really learned it to fly in the last couple weeks Very Happy.
It´d be great if you have a serious interest in becoming a 229th Pilot. There´s a great bunch of awesome People around here.
See you soon hopefully

Hi Recon Nine, You have found a great home here at the 229th, especially if you are looking for serious simmers. We are also priviliged to have actual helicopter pilots commercial and military and some very passionate and competent simulation pilots. Gizzy is OC squadron and is a great mentor. We have a great program and there is something for everyone. I fly the Huey and have just passed Basic Wings, I'm also learning the MI-8 slowly. Anyway look forward to flying with you in due course!

I was a big Arma heli guy too. It's what got me interested in the huey originally, long ago playing Arma 2 Free, flying the UH-1Y Venom. Things have come a long way since then, but flying helicopters with the 229th is a totally different experience! If you seek realism, community, and tactical SOP you've come to the right place.
