As some of you may be aware Xtra is devoting some of his precious time to delivering training on Thursday evenings. It is very informative and also beneficial for when we run missions. If you can, please make it this thursday to give a big gaggle of B company slicks for Delta to protect. Afterwards we can run a mission or take requests if anyone would like training or practice in any particular task/manouvre.

Gizzy has also spent a lot of time developing a new training map which may or may not make an appearance this week

Simple radio seems as the name suggests very simple to set up. Please try to instal this for Thursday

Highwayman has done a lot of cleaning up the mods for us. Please get the relevant mods from this thread here

so drop your cocks and grab your socks. Autumn is around the corner and a new tough and determined enemy is lurking in the shadows ready to pounce.

Be prepared for a new deployment in October and get your training up to scratch it is going to be a long tough engagement affraid

Hopefully Xtra will host it and maybe we can give it a good thrashing and decide whether its good enough for the main server..

Not for me..... and back in the day I even wrote software to interface JNOS IP with amateur radio packet networks before the internet became more popular... Ha!  VHF UHF packet, morse code, C++, Basic, Aries, UR, yup but SR no!  LOL there must be a moral somewhere..... Evil you don't have to reply now....

*** WARNING DRIVEL ALERT ***

B Co. LZ training 21/07/16 28135954270_d427ce432e

European Operations

European Operations mission is designed for general multi-airframe, single or multiple flights operations and simultaneously, LZ OPS Training operations using IP / TO [Training Officer] controlled threats.

Coastal Provence GELENDER declared UDI from the mother country and the main cities of KRYMSK & KRASNODAR & PASHKOVSKY.  Civil war has divided the country. GELENDER province is a coastal region 40KM wide extending 100KM along the coast SE of GELENDZHIK.  GELENDER Forces are BLUE.

There are 7 spawn areas, 2 of which are airfields and 5 ground start.  There are 2 FARP's for FUEL, REPAIR & REARM in addition to the airfields and ground deployment positions. (Rural Helo units dispersed within villages and woods with central FARPs for refuel, re-arm and repair but not spawn.  There will be 2 versions of the mission, one all hot start for rapid training with the other a mixture of cold and hot start.

There are 2 LZ training areas with 2 IP / TO dedicated UH-1h's.  All LZ's will be marked by smoke when IP UH-1h is in the general area.  When IP UH-1h within 3km of a LZ up to 3 different threats may be selected and activated.  Auto time reset is scripted.  Artillery can be called if you have CA.

IP / TO can activate LRRF emergency extraction (navigating by FM beacon) to hot LZ’s for Bandit Flights.

(If no IP / TO then any user can hop into an IP craft and initiate an extraction for others or use that craft but it will not be easy!..)

Standard threats exist permanently and can be :
SAM & AAA at KRYMSK Airfield
ARMOURED PATROLS in CHERMORNORSKY City
CONVOYS KRYMSK  > II’SKIV
SAM & AAA at OIL REFINERY AND POWER STATION NE segment of II’SKIV

Ah, forgot to add that if all this 'stuff' works on the server then with dB's time permitting, threats, positions + weather will be changed about every 2-4 weeks, depending on use, if it all works that is, HAHA lol!

@Xtra: roger that, sir.

@Cib: my "reporting in" was for the session in general, not for the slicks - already said I would do GS training with Xtra...

Your mission building skills are awesome Gizzy... I have had some great fun on the current missions ^

Also interesting on your amateur radio packet linking stuff Gizzy...
I am a 'none-active' radio ham ( _ _ .  ...._   _.  ._ _  ._ _ . )  I also played around with amtor (originally sitor) and packet radio systems years ago.  I still have an old ICS AMT 1 here... however it has not been used in anger for many years.  Also have an Yaesu FT990 HF rig, 500watt HF valve amp and a Tri-band 3ele on a forty foot mast.  All gathering dust I am afraid Sad  My old code knowledge is still useful for tuning in the morse beacons and ID's on the Huey radio Smile     _ _ ...  ... _ _

PS. unfortunately the morse doesn't come out right here as the forum wants to take out the spaces... Rolling Eyes

Nah, pretty naff really, too much eye candy which with MODS issues it works sort of with some and slow & not so well with others.... but I am learning and the next one will be better...

(B/229) IJammer wrote:I have had some great fun on the current missions ^

That is good... it was written for others rather than personal  but most say nought so I thought it was 'shite'...

(B/229) IJammer wrote:Also interesting on your amateur radio packet linking stuff Gizzy...

That was ages ago... started at 15 in the Army, signaller flags to be earned before motor bikes & landrovers led to being a peeler -  some incentive to master morse code eh....

Went to AR for a back door reason, was into hang gliding, in the early days red tape only allowed you  to have a FAC approved radio if you wanted to use it in the air - at silly cost and then air to ground and ground to air was so restricted and wives on the radio just didn't fit in.... so we used 2m, most of the club doing the night school certification stuff to get a B licence.  That worked well, fly anywhere, land anywhere and use the mast top repeaters to call in your lift for the return.  (REMEMBER NO MOBILE PHONES THEN!) We even developed out own code to avoid the HAM police... haha 'stepped on a rabbit hole' meant you were climbing rapidly in a thermal....  Was running packet before the internet came in universally.  Preferred use was JNOS home worked into IP, I ran a GB box on 4m and 2m - a bit of history - email to most parts of the world was free - all by Amaterur packet radio.  Australia often a text email took an hour or so via national nodes and a AMSAT gate..

Am Radiio now, yes me too,  not been used for many years but morse code does come in handy.  (GIOUHB)
