Madcat Requesting to Join
Hey folks.
I pretty much got into flight sims around August or September 2012 when I joined a friendly-yet-hardcore ACE/ACRE Arma community. I immediately went out and bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for the helis in Arma 2: CO. I completely forgot the number of hours I've done in Arma, too many to count. I DO remember doing very very long hours of troop and logistic transport, up to 16 hours straight without a bio break. Did some CAS, but very little since they were frowned upon, even though they were necessary force multipliers. I bought DCS: Black Shark 1 in November 2012, but installed and messed with it in July 2013. During July, GoG had sales on games so I screwed around with Apache Longbow, Hind, and both Enemy Engaged titles, to much fun and joy. Managed to put 55 hours into DCS: Black Shark 1, until September when DCS World had a sale on Steam, and bought BS2, A-10C, and Huey. Late September I got myself a Saitek X52 Pro. I'm still whoring after the KA-50, I love that damn thing! Managed to get up to 60 or 70 hours tops with the KA-50. With me being very mechanically and electrically inclined, I think I've spent a lot more time screwing with avionics, meanwhile flying without dampeners. Hell, a few days ago I spent up to 48 hours taking apart and reassembling my X52 joystick. Freaking nightmare, but at least the mod was worth it.
Had a flashback actually. I remember buying a joystick and having a go with Jane's F15 back in 2000. Also bought a heli search and rescue game which wasnt bad, but I couldnt wrap my late bloomer mind around it. Still got the Jane's F15 game/box/etc too. What started a latent interest in sims years ago was playing space combat sims like Tachyon and Colony Wars. Mechwarrior was the second highest influence right after space sims for getting me into flight sims.
I think I'm 28 by now, while living in shipping container somewhere in New York City. Just kidding, just kidding!

Hi Madcat...welcome to the 1st Cav Div. I look forward to flying with you. I see you referenced New York as your location but followed it with "just kidding". If you do live in NY then you will be assigned to "A" Company. Your commanding officer is Captain Showtime and he will be along shortly to get you sorted out. Again, welcome to the Battalion.
