Re: Robert Mason's pics
Hey thanks for posting these pics! I'm currently reading chicken hawk and there are only a few pics in the book, so these really complete it! Thanks.

Re: Robert Mason's pics
Chickenhawk is a classic as is Mr. Mason. He also has a Facebook page for anyone interested. Another must-read is "To The Limit" by Tom Johnson. I was so impressed by Mr. Johnson's book I ordered an autographed copy from his site http://bandit88.com/ "Rattler One-Seven" is another favorite.
Each of these authors has their own way of describing their experiences flying the Huey in Vietnam. I'd recommend reading everything you can find written by those guys. What they experienced in their early 20's is amazing.

Re: Robert Mason's pics
OK bro....you just started something!
Here's my "short list":
- "Chickenhawk" by Robert Mason
- "Rattler One-Seven" by Chuck Gross
- "Outlaws in Vietnam, In the Delta 1966-67" by David Eastman
- "Above The Best" by Nicholas Vega
- "Low Level Hell" by Hugh Mills
- "CW2" by Layne Heath
- "Rotors" by Robert Gallagher
- "A Pilot's Tale, Flying Helicopters in Vietnam" by William Heilman
- "To The Limit: An Air Cav Huey Pilot" in Vietnam by Tom A. Johnson
==================
May favorites, in no particular order:
"Chickenhawk"- Obviously, the most famous of all the Vietnam helo books....my Dad read it and said he loved the parts about going through training at Ft. Wolters (my Dad went through there as a WOC in 1960). He also said the second half about the combat flying, "brought back too many bad memories".
"To The Limit"
"Outlaws in Vietnam"
"Low Level Hell"
Have fun reading "Chickenhawk" (it's amazing), and let us know what you think.
Have a great day,
BBall

If you’ll look under the top of the post where it says “short list”, I think you’ll find the authors…
Have a great day.
