Post by (A/229) Rob Sun 25 Sep 2016, 20:18

Hello,

My name is Rob Bellamy. I am 37 and live in Atlanta, GA USA. I would like to join your group and learn to fly Huey's. I have set up my new PC ( i7 16 gb ram, gtx 745) with DCS 1.5. I have a x52 stick and throttle with thrust master pedals. I am an airline pilot for a major US airline. I have always liked helicopters and have read many books on the subject. My wife and I both work and have 2 kids so my free time is very limited. If that is a problem, I understand. I have practiced the start up a number of times to where I know where all the switches are that I need to move. I am still slower than average on the startup I'm sure.  I have been using a checklist created by a guy named Chuck Owl. My Teamspeak username is Robb001.

Thanks,
Rob Bellamy

Please go to the "Usergroups" link above and select "A Company/229th (North America)" and you will be accepted into the appropriate company. I will send you your assignment orders via PM that will explain the steps necessary to get set up with the battalion. Welcome to the 229th.

Thanks guys! I look forward to getting into the training material. One thing that is giving me a little trouble is my collective. It's an x52 throttle. The detents for afterburner and reverse are making it hard to fine tune the collective. I need to do a little axis tunning or something.

Did you loose the friction control on your throttle all the way to "loosen" (-) direction till it stops?

The friction control works, but the detents are present no matter what the friction. I found a discription online showing how to remove the detent. I would like to avoid that. Thought I might find a way to make the full collective travel between the detents. Maybe add dead zones.
