Hey all, Ive been a simmer for about 15 years. I just picked up the Huey module via the Steam sale. Its my favorite module by far over the KA50- F15, F86 or A10. I was in the Army for 4 years as an Apache Crew Chief. I got out before I got a chance to get my spurs haha. Perhaps there'll be a virtual spur ride one day . Anyway Its good to see a dedicated Huey squadron and I wanted to be a part of it. Theres no other DCS heli that matches everything the Huey has to offer. With that organic, analog feel the Huey gives you. Anyway, later!

from the U.S. We try to assign new members according to their time zones, so that they can fly with other

I do have a quick question. First, I was directed to check a page for mods in regards to the game. When I checked, the page wouldnt load. Second, Are mods required to be a member? I really wanted to try to keep my game mod free. I also have steam so I don't quite know how that would work together with said mod.

Combined objects & combined skins are the two required mods at a minimum.  Playing DCS unmoded is not worth the 229th member's time. (DCS World 2 will help with some of that)  The steam version can be moded, just requires you to go deeper into the folders.  We can help with that.  I am not sure if the UniversRadio mod works with steam, not sure why it wouldn't.  Although at this point that mod is only required for the players that show that they have the ability to play in the more advanced missions.

Xanderous, I would agree with six that to get the full effect of being a member of the 229th, you should have at least the basic 229th mod if you're interested in participating in the missions and I would recommend participation (although it's not required). Our map makers offer unique situations that are exclusive to the 229th, due to the unique mods. Most of our mods have been created by members of this group, at least in part, so can be explained in detail. I believe you will enjoy flying with this group if you like realism and disciplined flight in the UH-1 helicopter.
