Swoop Requesting to Join
I have been tinkering with flight sims since my early teens. Janes USAF comes to mind as one of the first. I later got into multiplayer helicopter flying on the FSX Gamespy server for a few months before they shut it down. I have real world experience flying ultralights, and have had a lifelong interest in helicopters.
I live in Colorado.
I have just recently upgraded my pc system and gotten back into flight sims. I have also been flying a payware R22 in Xplane. I am really looking forward to the Edge maps and new choppers we will hopefully see soon in DCS.
I have found it difficult to meet multiplayer Huey pilots on DCS, so I am hoping this is a way to do so.

Welcome! You came to the right place, we have plenty of real world helicopter pilots here, including a couple of real world Huey instructor pilots. We're all a bunch of 40 something old farts here with the exception of a few in their 20s, how old are you?

Not only you will find plenty, but the guys will also encourage you to fly other DCS rotors... I came in with a little experience on the Huey, and now I fly it 200% better, and I'm also learning the Hip and the Blackshark... Welcome, you will have a blast

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Thanks guys, nice to meet you all. Im 30 years old, live in Colorado, and do CAD and CNC metal fabrication for a living.
Wallaby, this is LF from Hovercontrol actually. I followed you over...
Ive also flown a good bit with Razorback already, he has taught me alot. Im interested in the Blackshark, but not as much as the supposedly in the works choppers...It looks fun, but just from flying around with it, it doesn't look as challenging or realistic a flight model as the Huey.
So, I tried to find the 229thCAV teamspeak server last night and couldn't...? Is there an IP number for it? Im not sure exactly what the next step is here.
Do you guys give out the password for the multiplayer servers over TS? I noticed last night there were two 229th servers running, so good to see you guys fly on the reg.

Gday Swoop, I thought I may be you when I saw the Colorado
The IP is 174.36.16.73:9083, it should be on the left side of the webpage...
When you get in, someone will drag you down to where you need to be.

Swoop, nice to see a fellow from Hovercontrol, I became a CP in 2012 (HC139NM, "Nelson Simões"), still think about going back there and update my certification one day, but as you said, the more challenging and realistic FMs in DCS keep me from flying FSX again, I guess...
Regarding the Blackshark, I had it since it was a beta, and never flew it till a couple of weeks ago, sometimes the guys come up with new missions that require that, and so I put some time into it, and stopped just spectating in those occasions, and had a really good time with it, I can tell you it is worth it being able to come in and fly different airframes depending on the mission, or just your mood. And BTW, the KA-50 model is realistic, it is just a lot more docile than the Huey for 2 main reasons: It is coaxial, and it has stabilization systems.
Cheers, see you online

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Swoop...I just took a look and I don't see you listed as a member yet. Go to the "Usergroup" link at the top and select "A Company/229th (North American)". Once you have completed that step I will send you a Welcome Letter in your PM. Check it and it will give you the steps and passwords necessary to get everything in order.

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Hi Flyer
I think the problem might be that I initially registered in the forum under "Thumper", but this name was taken when it came to choosing a Username, so I chose another, "Swoop".
I could go with either one...
Maybe you can switch my original signup name from Thumper to Swoop...I signed in this morning and requested to join C company.
Thanks

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Hi Swoop/Thumper...The battalion is set up into company's that are based on time zones so that members from each time zone can fly with folks in their perspective regions. It appears that you listed Colorado as your location so that would make your assignment "A" Company. I've never had to make an internal company change and it may be as easy as just going back in and re-selecting the proper company. Give that a try and I'll get with the Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Skullz and see if we have to make a manual adjustment.
I don't know if the old "Thumper" is still around and if you want, I'll check on that name if you still want it. It's up to the commander to make the change. As soon as you settle on the changes I'll send your Welcome Letter with all other information.

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Hi flyer...If I selected one other than N America, that was a mistake for sure.
Now I just went back to "UserGroups" and the N America option wasn't there. I don't know if that means I selected the correct one (N America) before, or not

Re: Swoop Requesting to Join
Swoop just took a look at the roster and I see a Thumper listed as a member registered today. If you want that tag, go in under that tag and re-select "A" Company and I'll get the other tag deleted.

Swoop, when you go into "Usergroup", there should be another dropdown that say "Join another group" and it should allow you to switch...try that and let me know...

Both Thumper and Swoop were accepted. Just let me know which name you intend to use so I can delete the unused one.
