-What is your experience with flight sims.
I have been flying in DCS on and off for about two years now. I have recently finished a move and have settled down and re-hooked up my peripherals. In doing so, I got the itch and began to upgrade my HOTAS, pedals, and have picked up an arduino to start playing around with building some of my own panels. I have been holding back on learning the Huey until I had everything hooked up and ready to go. I'm now at that point and I was looking for a dedicated group to fly and learn with and to aid me as I comb through the manual. I also want to put in the time to learn proper technique and procedure and join a community.

I've also had experience working as a Linesman when I was younger as well as assisting with research on aircraft throughout college.

Welcome Slate.  I think you'll find this group to be what your looking for.  We have a great group of pilots and dedicated instructor pilots with real world helicopter experience that graciously give their time to train and develop good flight skills within the battalion.  We have a very supportive chain of command and no "requirement" that you have to maintain.  It's all about the comradery and joy of flying the UH-1 helicopter, using U.S. Army Cavalry tactics.

Please go to the above link "Usergroups" and select "A company/229th (North American)."  Once you have completed that, you will receive a welcome letter that will guide you on getting settled in.  I look forward to flying with you.

Slate...Make contact with any Instructor Pilot (IP) listed in the welcome packet for training and when your ready for your check ride, your commander will make accommodations for you.  Please proceed with the check list and make sure you get your Team Speak in order, so you will have good comms for training and mission assignment.  Good luck.
