47driver requesting to join
I have done some reading in the forum and I really like this community. It lacks a lot if the BS I've seen in some of the other ones. I have been flight simming for a decade or so; mostly FS 9-10 but also some Lock-On and DCS. I got hooked on Blackshark and the flight dynamics. After I found out about DCS Huey, I decided to build a new computer and upgrade several peripherals. Next to the AH-1, that is my favorite helo.
I've used teamspeak before as well and I have a good internet connection. Once I get my rig built and figure out which flight controls to buy, I will look forward to flying (and possibly building) some online missions.
I am also a (Warrant Officer) CH-47 PC in the US Army, currently on a 3 year assignment flying the LUH-72 Lakota.

Re: 47driver requesting to join
Welcome 47driver...I think you'll like flying with this group. We have many real world military and civilian aviators and everyone is a disciplined virtual pilot. We maintain a military like structure and teach real world UH-1 technique. Just like in the U.S. Army, the aviator badges reflect the level of training a member has attained. I'm also a 16 year Warrant Officer (honorably discharged in 2000) and GunfighterSix is a current warrant. We have members from around the world and again many are ex-military so you'll fit right in. Again welcome to the 229th, I look forward to flying with you.
Go to the top of the page and select "Usergroup" and then select North American. Once that is complete you will be sent directions that will help you get situated.

Hey 47driver....welcome!
You’ve hit the nail on the head, little (to no) BS around here. Truly a great bunch of guys who just love flying, flight sims, and giving each other a bit of “chin music” every now and then (good naturedly of course).
Son of an Army Warrant here. Lost him in ’93, and have often wondered just how much he would have fallen in love with our little hobby if he were still with us (a ton I’m sure....he LOVED this kind of stuff). I currently reside in the left seat of a Boeing 757/767 for a major (Atlanta based) airline, but spend most of my time “trying” to UN-learn all of my bad “fixed winged” habits with the help of RW helo aviators like Flyer, SIX, and Extra...
BTW...how do you like the Lakota? Looks like a pretty sweet little machine. Oh, and if you have any questions about computer hardware for your new rig, may I suggest dropping “Griff” a line... on top of being a “super cop”, he’s a whiz at that computer building stuff....
Again....Welcome!

Re: 47driver requesting to join
The Lakota is a great bird IMO. Not nearly the power that the 47 has, but its awesome having a pair of Garmin 430's. They are coupled to our autopilot upper modes, which makes IFR much easier and reduces pilot workload considerably. Overall its a nice, stable airframe and its got reasonable enough power even with pax. The only real issue is the extra care that needs to be taken during landings (especially slopes) due to it having a rigid/ hingeless rotor system. I really enjoy flying it.

Great to have you with us 47. I like the look of your Lakota. they look ideal for "small group ops". We dont have BS here because we dont have to tolerate it, so feel free to call a "spade a spade".

Welcome 47
The CH-47 right?
Dammit, why is the whole world flying helicopters for a living and I am not? Somewhere in live I must have taken a wrong turn. I am jealous of all you real flyboys out there
Enjoy your stay, 47

Great to have you, look forward to having a heavy lift guy around. I almost ended up going to S&S myself a few months ago, didn't work. Look forward to you getting online.

Haven't forgotten about you guys. Just barely got my new rig built over this weekend. I ordered all three helo's from DCS on their sale today. Now just need to get some flight controls together.
I found out I'm moving to Texas soon to fly Lakotas over there. How legit is that?!
